May you get to create a zillion memories to cherish forever.

I am sure that for your perpetual enthusiasm any day of the year is like celebrating a special day in your own way and today also you would be rocking as ever. I am sure you had a gala evening to usher in a fresh dawn and you could make it rocking with all those who were lucky enough to be with you last night.

Wish you thousand times more success and peace in the years to come than what you have had until today.

I do hope the year ahead multiplies your happiness, contentment & accomplishments (not to forget your wealth) 20.24 times of their already accumulated levels. I also pray to the great Almighty to nourish you with HIS/HER choicest blessings and drench you with the sweetest, everlasting memories to cherish for life. Amen!

May the ensuing year bring with it the sweetness of accomplishments engulfing all your past sorrows.

May you rise to every occasion that merits your minutest of intervention.

May your wisdom evolve even further to handle all your familial and professional discords (I wish there are none) with the deftness and affection your mom did while handling your (possible) tantrums as a kid (if ever you had them in the first place).

I have a lot more to say as my heart is getting overwhelmed with emotions on this very special day for everyone but I keep them from getting penned for the next big occasion.

Have a blast, even if it’s a bit late for me to wish you. You anyway don’t have a reason to complain as you didn’t invite me to the party 😉

Stay healthy, wealthy, conscientious and compassionate, as ever. It is also a chance we give to ourselves to let bygones be bygones and make a wish for a fresh beginning. For some of us who have had a remarkable last year we celebrate our happiness by bursting firecrackers and by distributing sweets among our near & dear ones. For others who didn't exactly have a noteworthy outing out there it is another fresh dawn today full of promises for the next twelve months (or so) allowing us to get the monkey off our shoulders and make a resolution that we shall strive hard to set the record straight as we bow our heads in uncompromised faith in front of the Elephant God Ganesh & Goddess of Wealth Lakshmi.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">This is also one such festival which helps bonding the loosened strings as all family members make it a point to rush to a common reunion joint, mostly their parental homes. No matter where they are across the globe, they engineer their plans in such a way (months in advance) that on this day they get to greet each other. Of course, in the last couple of years, amidst the unprecedented pandemic times, it proved to be a real challenge to arrange for the logistics without being unduly stressed but yes, that itself has proved the significance of the moment for us all. This year, with the grace of God, we all can heave a sigh of relief from those tortuous times and be able to unite once again in the old-fashioned way with our near and dear ones.

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">I take this opportunity to wish all a very happy Diwali.

May the ensuing year of your life bring with it sweetness of accomplishments engulfing all your past sorrows, if any.

May you rise to every occasion that merits your minutest of intervention.

May your wisdom evolve to handle all your interpersonal and professional discords (I wish there are none) in the most deft manner.

I wish for you amazing blissful times. I do hope the year ahead multiplies your happiness, contentment & accomplishments (not to forget your wealth) ‘n’ times (‘n’ is a variable and its value is equivalent to your biological age) of their already accumulated levels. Amen!

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">To all those who couldn't find a reason to cherish today, "Go, find your happiness in the smallest pleasures of life. If not anything else, read this text at least once again along with the never-ending archives of the author on his blog but please...." and yes, make merry but do responsibly top it up by making it peacefully rocking!

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">:-)

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">Festively yours

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">Ritesh

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">(C) Rits Original

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">@ <span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif;">https://scorpiofury.blogspot.com
Rits Originalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01200725079339270362noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8196907938595919953.post-25519420629792254172023-11-10T05:28:00.001-08:002023-11-10T05:28:47.369-08:00Bud-day musings!Ah! Another year just passed by in a flash & there was little I could do about my greying all this while. Just as I am feeling peevish on one crucial technicality in my biodata changing for worse (as virtually all of my medico-legal rights/insurance premiums turned immensely costlier in a matter of few minutes as midnight struck) here comes a truly unexpected notification.

Voila! It's a wedding invitation from a close friend who studied with me in my post-graduation course over a decade and a half ago!! Goodness gracious me! My buddies are still getting married & that means I am not as old as the world would so desperately want me to feel. But hey, hold on in your tracks right there! It’s not his wedding mate but a ‘family’ card for his nephew’s D-day! What an anti-climax of sorts! I agree that I was not the youngest of them all in my PG course (unlike my engineering days when I would get bullied just for being one of the youngest) I suddenly feel like a Nouveau Borne all over again! Thanks a zillion, buddy for breaking this news just at the right time!! You just made all my gloom fade in a jiffy!

Coming back to the significance of this momentous day in the history of mankind (pun intended) it indeed marked the birth of someone who would have the audacity to intrude into your thoughts every now & then. Yeah, along the way, some of the casualties either humbly "requested" (just as they loved me too much to make me feel bad) to "unsubscribe" them from the list of my intellectual "victims" or they just so royally snubbed me in front of an August audience, forcing me to have a look at the mirror again (to get some real grounding).

Did any of it deter me from setting on to my next (mis)adventure? Dare I say, "Not really". It only made me realize my innate strengths & weaknesses as a person first and as a writer later. With my head bowed unconditionally in front of all of "constructive" criticism I would get re-energized for my next fate-accompli just on sporadic encouragements (even from some unexpected quarters at times).

In between all of it, I tried to understand all of those who I genuinely believe are doing me a great favor by complimenting my only passion (of writing & just writing) by devoting their precious time over (reading) it and occasionally sharing their feedback with me.

Here is presenting my understanding (evolved over a reasonable time) of all of my message "recipients".

To each his own! Some of the people have suggested that it becomes ritualistic to just observe a post from me & like it on FB without even reading it! How ordinary stuff? To those who seriously believe that social media (at times) is obligatory, I have a humble submission. No one, I repeat, no one can force anyone else (from his/her social circles) to "like" something, even out of courtesy if the wavelengths of the two don't match and resonance-like phenomena are not created between them as a transmitter and a receiver.

I must have at least 500 people as contacts I am in ‘disproportionate’ touch with, both personally as well as professionally. I must be a fool if I were to expect them to be reading all of my stuff thrown upon them. They may not even notice it, let alone like it. At the same time, those who honor me by finding precious time from their lives to read my not so "easy on head" and at times irritating pieces just don't like it all the time as a "thumb rule". I don't expect them to do so either.

I have also realized that there are a variety of people (among my fancied readers). Many just don't bother to have a look, not 'coz I have composed it & they hold a non-negotiable grudge against me but as they don't read ANYTHING which goes beyond few words & few of them are my best of friends.

A slightly lesser no. gets encouraged to take the plunge (maybe based on past motivation about the way I might have narrated then) but then are forced to lose their trust midway as I might not have lived up to their expectation this time (this segment is my biggest concern & I just can't stop ridiculing myself enough for having broken their faith in me).

The third set is of "egoists" who secretly go through what I might have expressed but feel that they shouldn't give me any importance by publicly admitting that they DID read my piece. I know many of them and I just laugh it out in my head.

Then the last segment which is that of naysayers who wouldn't care to spend one moment on what they just happened to notice but would react immediately as a habit. (I would be surprised if even a single person who has ever "liked" any of my posts would have done it as a reflex action and/or out of sheer courtesy though the reverse is not incorrect). Many of them just compulsively mock & so brashly try to pull me down. I know that they do it out of either an inferiority complex (since they know that not even in their wildest imagination would they be able to match up to me in this art) or a superiority complex (since they feel better accomplished/privileged for whatever reasons).

I just DO NOT care about this last set and it simply doesn't bother me. No matter how hard I try to please them they would still be behaving obnoxiously so what's the point in wasting my time on them? I would rather concentrate on humbly acknowledging my "genuine" critics who know that I know their feedback. That's just good enough for me to keep going and even one such value input (regardless of it being positive or disturbing) does go a seriously long way in me burning the midnight oil on penning my next work (no pun intended).

In between all of it if someone comes up with a genuine appreciation comparing me with (n even finding me better than) a popular writer that sort of makes my day though I am careful to still take that with a pinch of salt. I have a long, long way to go before I fancy anything crazy. I know I just have to be cautious in figuring out who is my serious critic n who is just any other Tom, Dick, or Harry. Period.

As for my style of writing, I know that it doesn't suit everyone's appetite & I have realized that I can't help it either. It's my known handicap. I know that loss is entirely mine only as eventually I won't ever have as many admirers (if at all I could dare to call them) as any wanna-be writer would fantasize about but that's that! As said already, as long as I have JUST ONE individual whose intellect (or the lack of it) GENUINELY matches with that of mine I stand vindicated.

I take this opportunity to tress-pass into your lives once again and whether you like it or not I seek your blessings with folded hands. Please do not act stingy in showering them. Bouquets or brickbats, I shall gracefully accept them with a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart. Thanks to all of you, just for being there and for tolerating me all these years. Trust me guys, you only have become mentally stronger by doing so ;)

(C) (W)Rits Original

Rits Originalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01200725079339270362noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8196907938595919953.post-25999898576340385052022-06-30T10:56:00.003-07:002022-06-30T10:56:37.795-07:00Opening, Mid-game or End-game – Master your game!
<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif; text-align: justify;">Power is a poison –
that’s an often-quoted adage. That’s for lesser mortals who aren’t conscious of
their own limitations and for whom there never would be any higher sphere. For
them, power and its sinful intoxication, certainly, eventually turns into a
deadly concoction. For the ones who already have tasted both power and all the
attendant successes, which come as a necessary by-product, they always keep an
antidote to power handy, just in case. They also know when exactly to take a
jab of this antidote to poetically turn all the evil side-effects of irrational
exuberance into an elixir.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">Last 10 days (and
as many nights) have indeed turned out to be a roller-coaster match between not
two, but actually four Grand Masters (GMs), playing on all the edges of the
chess-board that is Maharashtra. And yes, all four of them had absolute freedom
to manoeuvre all 32 pieces as they wish (or at least they deemed they ‘did’).
Some of them even had the privilege to add or subtract to this tally, suiting
their convenience and more importantly, their style of play.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">In this “Game of
Throne”, it is very complicated to deduce as to who had opened, though with an all-white
attire, the eventual, ‘providential’ king is widely alleged to be the one to
set the pawns rolling himself. It’s another matter that all this while, he was unmistakably
deemed to be playing the role of a 'kingmaker'.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">The very pace and
the manner with which the match opened on that fateful evening took at least two
of the GMs by surprise as they were cosying up with each other in their post
meal afternoon ‘power’ nap and wouldn’t in their wildest dreams expect one of their
own protege to pose a sudden challenge to their self-appointed crowns as No. 1
and 2 in the state even as the popular vote didn’t allow them to take this
liberty in the aftermath of Diwali cracker show three summers ago! At the best,
it was a duopoly (yes, presence of their side-kick was just as a facilitator)
for the crown-term but when it got threatened to be busted just mid-way through,
heavens fell and how!

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">All through the
duration of the game, there were many openings and a prolonged mid-game before
many assumed that an end game was indeed in sight. In sight it surely was, just
that the nature of the climax with the very end move by the king turned
kingmaker made it into an anti-climax of sorts! Will there still be a sequel to
this intriguing game? The jury is out. This is precisely the stuff Hollywood scriptwriters
are always on the lookout for.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">Life hacks for us. If
life throws watermelons to you, make them all lemons. Who knows when a lemon
would get costlier than a watermelon? The now king was threatened for life by
none other than the right-hand of his previous boss but he firmly stood his
ground and quite resiliently turned all the brickbats he was subjected to, into
a beautiful pot-pourri of a bouquet any GM worth his appearance fee would be
proud of. When it’s the moment of reckoning, make it count and count it REAL BIG!

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif;">

But this is precisely what I could 'coin' after watching this video of the entire RCB gang making merry last night even as one of their otherwise fierce competitors in MI pummelled a hapless (and clueless DC), punch by punch. Such an irony of sorts, isn’t it?

If I contemplate about the context, this is a great life lesson for all. When we are put in a "complex matrix" like situation where unless we have been tenaciously methodical with our OWN approach, several factors and permutations / combinations have to all go in unison and fall in place together to produce the coveted solution for us. If we take it (relatively) easy and leave it to the last (when it’s already beyond our control), to such an extent that some benefactor has to bail us out we don't have a choice but to feverishly pray for that patron to do it for us. When it eventually comes through, we get to saviour those moments with the ecstasy which could only bless us, courtesy a philanthropist.

How often has life thrown such serendipitous moments to you? Have you taken a count of your such blessings? To be honest, I myself am unsure if I have ever been beneficiary of such a noble act by someone else for me even as I can certainly not rule out that there definitely must have been many such type of situations. I seek pardon for my ignorance to all my benefactors through my life and take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards such unknown / unidentified good Samaritans.

Do share your thoughts.

Cheers

Karma'tically yours

Ritesh

Rits Originalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01200725079339270362noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8196907938595919953.post-22483966861173414192022-04-22T20:09:00.000-07:002022-04-22T20:09:17.009-07:00The Mayonnaise Jar
<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype", serif; font-size: 11pt; text-align: justify;">How surreal the following story makes

professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty

the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course,
the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The
students responded with a unanimous “YES”.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif; font-size: 11.0pt;">

professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the
entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the
sand. The students laughed.

<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype",serif; font-size: 11.0pt;">

said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that
this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - God,
family, children, health, friends, and favourite passions. Things, that if
everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house, and car. The sand
is everything else - the small stuff.” he said.

you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “There is no room for the
pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time
and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are
important to you...” he told them. “So, pay attention to the things that are
critical to your happiness. Worship with your family. Play with your children.
Take your partner out to dinner. Spend time with good friends. There will
always be time to clean the house and fix the dripping tap. Take care of the
golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The
rest is just sand.”

of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The
professor smiled and said, “I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that
no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups
of coffee with a friend.

Escaro Royale - A true connection between a man's heart and his toe (ROPE Accredited)! - 30% flat discount coupon and more inside!

There are two things you can NEVER have too many of; Good friends and Good shoes because shoes speak louder than words! You can't buy happiness but you can buy SHOES and that's kind of the same thing. Life is too short to wear boring shoes.

Amy Adams famously said, "I like Cinderella, I really do. She has a good work ethic. I appreciate a good, hard-working gal. And she likes shoes. The fairy tale is all about the shoe at the end, and I'm a big shoe girl."

As a kid I always used to wonder as to why there wasn't a male 'Cinderella' for us all to fall in love with! Why those gleaming pair of shoes had to be immortalized for just about one half of the so called 'man'kind? What an irony they weren't meant for the 'Man' only!

All through my formative years quite fascinatingly I used to be in a perennial search of my own pair of 'Cinderella' for myself but never could I find one to create my own fairy tale which could have come true with the right shoe. I had a firm conviction in the dictum that, "Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life!"

When I was just about to enter my fourth decade of existence on this Earth I accidentally (or in the hindsight I should call it 'serendipitously') stumbled upon Escaro Royale whose designs just didn't allow me to take my eyes off. I kept browsing through the entire catalogue with a 'wow' written large in my eyes and for all the variety it had on offer I couldn't find a single piece of its creation that I could dare to discount as ordinary!

Then I went through the detailed description of some of the ones I could eventually filter (it indeed was a Herculean effort to find few gems from a mineful)! Lo and behold! It turned out to be icing on the cake that for every single item a personalized detailing has been immaculately articulated to highlight its fine leather material, styling, care about and what not. And guess what! They come with individualized shoe care kit!

I immediately ordered one for myself and after a near suffocating wait for few days when it did come the first thing that made my day was the packaging itself. I bet you won't have ever come across such a 'ROYALLY' packed pair anywhere in the world! With a childlike enthusiasm I opened the box and out came an astonishing piece of top drawer craftsmanship. I had to stop gazing at it after a while when I realized that I didn't still do what I was supposed to do - try them!

As expected by now, the fit and finish was just beyond expectation and after all these years I had finally figured what a true Nirvana for your feet could be like. As they say, "If you don't think shoes are important, just ask Dorothy and Cinderella!"

I got in touch with Mr Ambuj Sharma who is the proud entrepreneur to own this gem along with few others and he so very sweetly took time out to call me and explain at length about the technicalities of footwear. Our WhatsApp chat must have lasted for over an hour and I was not having enough of what he had to share - true wisdom and passion only a virtuoso who is so very confident about his own art could possess.

I told him that time has come for the world to see what Escaro Royale is all about. And to my astonishment just after few days he created a personalized coupon code viz. RITESH30 which anybody and everybody who is reading this could make use of to get an instant 30% discount on any product from the entire catalogue of Escaro Royale on www.escaro.in including and not limited to its new launches and bespoke collection! I must confess that I can die a contended soul now. Such a priceless honour to be bestowed upon with. Respect Sir. More power to you

After careful consideration and personal experience I don't have any hesitation (like for very few other recommendations I have given in the past with the undisputed money back guarantee) this one unapologetically qualifies for the ROPE™* Accreditation! First up, get yourself a hefty upfront 30% discount on a luxury you should be able to afford. Then embark upon this Escaro Royale 'walk' and if for whatever reason, of course other than your own inadequacies to appreciate true craftsmanship, you feel that the Escaro Royale wasn't upto it to make it memorable for you do write in to me with all the relevant details and I shall oblige you with one half of the shoe price (yeah, from my own pocket!) you have paid to them. Like all good things in life this one also has a limited life and the offer is valid until 30th September 2019!

So dude, what are you still gazing at? Life doesn't come up with such "too good to be true" offers.

"If you are going to kick ass, you need kickass shoes!"

Everlastingly yours

Over the last several years I have lost count of my friends, colleagues and family members who have come to visit Macau just as a by-product of their trip to Hong Kong. It makes sense also as for a regular tourist it doesn't take more than 48-72 hours (and that too at a very relaxed pace) to thoroughly scan all the extravaganza Macau has to offer. Only those who would want to sinfully indulge in gambling wouldn't mind spending any more number of days in the ubiquetous casinos of Macau until either they go crazy with their bounty hunt or maybe have to put their house on sale!

For the third category of customers (and also for the ignorant ones from the first two) who constantly wish to set the bar higher in their wanderlust of exploring the lesser travelled path there is indeed a pleasant surprise in store. The very majestic Macau Tower houses one of the best names any well read and conscious thrill seeker would swear by and that is the Holy Grail of the industry viz. AJ Hackett!

So who exactly is AJ Hackett?

If you go to its official website https://www.ajhackett.com the welcome message profoundly screams into your eyes, "Everyday do something that reminds you you're still alive"! It also very proudly showcases The Eiffel Tower's image carrying a caption "Defying Gravity" and why not! It's at this place where all of this madness began three decades ago when the legendary Kiwi jumped from!! And that's how Bungee jumping was introduced to the world.

In the last 3 decades Hackett has done phenomenal job in lifting the standards of gravity based adventure sports across different parts of the world.

Macau Bungee

As Wikipedia would confirm, "On 17 December 2006, the Macau Tower started operating a proper bungee jump, which became the "Highest Commercial Bungee Jump In The World" according to the Guinness Book of Records. The Macau Tower Bungy has a "Guide cable" system that limits swing (the jump is very close to the structure of the tower itself) but does not have any effect on the speed of descent, so this still qualifies the jump for the World Record."

When I accidentally stumbled upon this piece of information nobody (I knew) else has ever remarked about, even in passing reference, my body and soul somehow got fixated to it. It was not on the cards and we had a packed schedule for our limited stay in Macau which got further hit by 24 hours as the level 8 typhoon warning in Hong Kong on the date of our travel to Macau meant we couldn't do anything else other than cursing mother nature for being at its annual worst!! I still had my fingers crossed for being able to make it to this extreme indulgence. It helped that not just Bungee but AJ Hackett also had Sky Walk on its menu which meant that it was going to be a thrill-some experience for the whole family, including for my six years old daughter!!

Sky Walk - The Preparations

The moment we landed on the 61st floor of the Macau Tower we knew that we were going to be in for something special as some pulsating music welcomed us. We were greeted by the ever so smiling crew members Tony and Jimmy who though didn't rush us through the motions still managed to make for quite a speedy ready reckoner cum "preparing yourself" set of activities like wearing proper shoes, harnessing, etc. They also provided us with the cute little cords to keep our glasses safe from accidentally falling off such heights. We were also provided with a locker to put all our stuff safely and let me tell you that I have never come across better quality lockers which you could just blindly trust with in your absence.

The fun begins!

What a joy it was for me to see my little one and her mommy getting as excited to walk on the edge of Macau Tower as I was! Our guide Jimmy was a very relaxed and happy go lucky guy who shooed away any stress and anxiety, if there was any of it left in us. What I couldn't help notice was the minutest detailing these guys have taken flawless care of to ensure that the safety of everyone involved in all of the activities through the entire duration is truly unmatched!

Basis our individual comfort Jimmy would ask us to pose at different places on the outer rim of the tower which was barely a metre in width. I obliged him by making for some of the craziest "thrill moments". At the end of it all of us had a sense of an amazing accomplishment and pride of doing what not many would ever even think about let alone eventually being able to do in their lives!

Macau Tower Skywalk - The Verdict

I would strongly recommend this activity for all the age groups. Trust me, whether you are with your family or friends you won't regret being part of this dare devilry which under the strictest of safety norms ensured by the AJ Hackett crew makes it a real "cake walk" and after the initial apprehensions / unease / scare / vertigo you can expect a truly exhilarating experience that you could expect to cherish for your life time. Just go for it and yeah, like very few other recommendations I have given with the undisputed money back guarantee this one unapologetically qualifies for the ROPE™ Acreditation! You just need to embark upon this 'walk' and if for whatever reason, of course other than your inherent fear, you feel that the AJ Hackett crew wasn't upto it to make it memorable for you do write in to me with all the relevant details and I shall oblige you with one third of the ticket price (yeah, from my own pocket!) you have paid for the activity. Like all good things in life this one also has a limited life and the offer is valid until 31st December 2017!

Bungee - how not to do it!!

I would always tell myself that I want to so very dearly do a bungee jumping before I die & four years ago in Pattaya I got this opportunity to jump from 50 metre. For all of my bravedo I knew it beforehand that it's not going to be easy by any stretch of imagination & it didn't help the way both of my legs got so tightly tied together. Before I could take the plunge the pain was getting increasingly unbearable for even my kind of tolerance. It certainly wasn't the best frame of mind if one is expected to jump unaided & with only that 'rope' as your saviour! Even before I could hold my breath to let the fresh air in & gather courage the trainer just pushed me from the platform! Here I first went down & then swung endlessly like a volatile pendulum for next few minutes. I must have screamed more in this activity alone more than all of what I did in my nearly three & a half decade of existence put together. To say it was a nasty & avoidable experience would be an understatement!

Bungee Jumping - The AJ Hackett Way!!

As they say, "keep the best for the last". After my first experience with this mind blowing adventure going bad it required lot of courage for me to be able to motivate myself into trying it again, especially for the top dollar it demands. But I didn't have to think about it too much after having seen the level of perfection AJ Hackett crew had put in my family's Sky Walk. In a flash I decided to just go for it, paid for my already discounted ticket and I promise you guys that it turned out to be the best decision of my life!

Sure, it doesn't come cheap but I am equally sure that for the kind of extra ordinary arrangements these guys have to put in, added with the fact that it could actually command a premium for it being the World's Highest Bungee Jumping one could and should definitely opt for this truly once in a lifetime opportunity.

The entire experience from the very moment you dress up in the gear & get introduced to the crew (assisting and motivating you in the most affable manner) till the time you actually jump from 233 metres above the ground level is beyond words.

You don't even get to realize when you are already on the 'platform' to do it and when the crew gently starts the countdown, " Five, four, three, two, one...." all of the slowly built up anticipation giving you goose bumps comes refreshingly true.

On hearing "Go", quite inexplicably, feeling is that as if you are just about to get into the heaven! Wow, incredible! Now the real dive. For the initial fraction of seconds you don't even realize that you are free falling at 200 Kmph! You feel like remaining in that stage of tranquility forever. Oh so beautiful breeze around & then you see the land down there while your photographer is busy capturing your excitement & frenzy. All of a sudden the fall is curtailed as the cord recoils to slowly allow a rebound & you wonder for how long did you actually free fall and why can't that duration be prolonged! You don't trust when your trainer later tells you it was around 4-5 seconds. You gradually get down in a nice sitting posture! Oh my God...how i wish time stopped its haughtiness then just for few more moments to allow this poor, deprived soul enhale "the life"!

The trip planning

At the outset I confess that I didn't have it planned and just one random glance on my newspaper on 12th July kicked off what now is turning out to be the most ambitious family vacation for us spreading over full 3 weeks and spanning 5 countries. Phew!!

That was an advertisement of Singapore Airlines offering some special fares to commemorate its 70th anniversary which somehow instantly motivated me to check if there was something for me and what I saw was truly incredible. All these years of being a global tourist I felt an etch about not being able to fly what I reckon is probably the best airlines when it comes to customer service. That was mainly due to the fact that I didn't have to transit through Singapore to explore any of the places I have visited (other than a solitary trip to Tioman Island in Malaysia which through several excitement and emotions and for which I would pen a separate piece).

That's when I found its fares to Hong Kong very lucrative I just couldn't resist the temptation and just went with my heart. After some immediate consultation with my wife I found that we could add Singapore, Phuket, Bali and Legoland Malaysia as well on this trip to make the most of it. That was some domino effect!

Check-in and ground services

12th October i.e., the D-Day came when it was a first for me to fly Airbus A-380 as well. What I had heard about the airline sounded bingo with the first check point itself when at the check-in my family was attended to quite hospitably and as my young daughter had hurt her ankle just the day before the supervisor smilingly brought a wheelchair for her and made her comfortable. All of our seven check-in baggages were handled with kid gloves and within moments we were issued our boarding passes to both Singapore (from Mumbai) and then onwards to Hong Kong.

Now the real servicing part with humane touch came to the fore when we were given two personnel with my daughter, first one to escort us to the immigration and the other one to be with us, hold your breath, until boarding the aircraft's gate!! It would be an understatement to say that it truly was a touching gesture.

Boarding - First impressions

Yeah, it ought to be a beast! I was thrilled like Alice in wonderland to see if it actually was true that I was finally inside the world's biggest passenger aircraft!

It was a neatly done up configuration which was very soothing to the eyes and didn't appear to create claustrophobic anxiety to the senses which was probably the only concern I had before chosing this mammoth jumbo jet. Even our economy class which had a 3X4X3 arrangement didn't look like was cluttered with the motive to make the most of it by the airline. Plenty of legroom was there for all of the seats. Overall great job in keeping the customer comfort as the cornerstone of its philosophy while designing the sitting plan.

In-flight experience

Immediately after boarding the staff provided all the passengers with hot towels to freshen up and didn't mind when being asked for another one.

And here what I heard about was in full glory as all of the air hostesses were dressed in their oh-so elegantly designed "Singapore Girl" Avatar. If there ever was a Grammy to give to the airline industry for coming up with the most beautiful looking crew attire, this airline would win it hundred out of hundred times as I am sure it's going to be nearly impossible to design such a masterpiece by any other airline.

None of the air hostesses and the flight stewards had any plastic looks imposed on their faces as professional hazards. They kept an all pleasant vista and welcoming attitude through the whole length and duration of the flight.

The whole coordination among all the crew members looked like was on auto pilot with effortless ease. All of them knew what any customer probably needs and expects. And they did attend to all of their customers very patiently in an accommodative manner. Not that it's a regular feature among all of its rivals but it was a welcome sight to observe that there wasn't even a minor scuffle between any of the passengers and a crew member.

I was served my beer well but there came in a disappointing moment when I realized that the "Veg Indian Meal" I had prebooked for both of my wife and daughter wasn't available for me, and I couldn't find fault with the airline on that as it was my mistake to not have done so for myself! When I told one of the senior (in age) personnel that I won't be able to have anything for my food he felt deeply disturbed and later asked me our flight details for the Hong Kong to Singapore leg in a week's time to get it arranged for me then. That was quite thoughtful on his part.

Flight discipline

Both the flights were on time both at the time of departure as well as for arrival. And I didn't see any last minute rush to keep the things this way. Again, it was handled with effortless ease.

Transit

If I were to point fingers at just one item which might be in need of some internal review it must be transit which could be done in a slightly more customer friendly manner. Not that it was bad but when it comes to inter-departmental rivalry to earn more brownie points from its customers transit team might just find itself wanting to get back on the drawing board to correct possibly the only chink in the airlines' armour.

I am looking forward to my next couple of flights on Singapore airlines and one on its subsidiary viz Scoot Airlines in next few days. As you would have realized by now that I have very little to complain about Singapore airlines' famed image but the only thing that I expect myself to be able to afford a Suite class journey of a lifetime for my family sooner than later. Amen!

Yours everlastingly

Is he the giant pandav you proudly are able to recollect n brag about in front of your kitty gang? Oh yeah, he is that of Mahabharata fame who probably was the first body builder India had ever produced! Man, how powerful he was to tear the mighty Jarasandh's humongous body in two pieces like you would pluck a flower in your backyard. Isn't he the same guy who also eventually killed the baddy Duryodhan? Hey you, I also know his wife's name was Hidimba. I mean his second wife whose son was the fearsome Ghatotkach.

Oh babes, what's going on out there? Did you care to check the spelling? It's bloody not our 'Bheem' but indeed their 'Bhim'!! For God's sake how could you all be so dumbs to not even care about our revered figures' purist names and act like a Pappu? You certainly don't deserve any sympathy from anyone. That's why it's named as such and is exclusively curated for its rightful recipients who have been subjugated by some random behenji for the last so many years on end.

Now just have a look at its virility as it slowly explodes in the hinterlands of her fiefdom in the coming weeks. It will help waking people up from their slumber and since it's their own 'Bhim' they would embrace him like they never did anyone else.

I told you earlier also and you made fun of me then just couple of months ago. Days ahead of the US polls I had humbly opined as under.

"I have a simple analogy to offer. People who voted for Brexit didn't know what they did. They were just impressed with the very thought of 'profiling'. The very same logic goes here as well. The Americans who would otherwise want to boast about their 'liberal' ethos in public would secretly vote for Trump!! Mark my words."

Today also I am telling you guys that the hetherto ubiquitous behenji might not be able to save her own deposit and her 'jamanat' might get 'zabt' leave alone her dreams of getting back to the centre stage.

Now you know who is 'Bhim'! Don't you? Start marking my words. If not for anything else then to just earn some quick bucks in the markets (it's another matter that I am an antithesis when it comes to use my own words in making moolah for myself)!

They say, "Diwali is a festival of infinite lights & we celebrate it with gay abandon to commemorate the famous victory of good over evil (as it finds its maiden reference in the Hindu mythology when on the occasion of Lord Rama returning back to his constituency Ayodhya after a hiatus of 14 years and immediately after conquering the all mighty devil king Ravana his folks got jubilant and made merry while unleashing all their quota of fun which was suppressed for all these years).

To me it is an opportunity to purge our whole beings of all the impurities we have so (in)voluntarily stuffed in our systems in the past one year. It is also a chance we give to ourselves to let bygones be bygones and make wish for a fresh beginning. For some of us who have had a remarkable last year we celebrate our happiness by bursting fire crackers & by distributing sweets among our near & dear ones. For others who didn't exactly have a noteworthy outing out there it is another fresh dawn today full of promises for the next twelve months (or so) allowing us to get the monkey off our shoulders and make a resolution that we shall strive hard to set the record straight as we bow our heads with uncompromised faith in front of the elephant God Ganesh & Goddess of wealth Lakshmi.

This is also one such festival which helps bonding the loose strings as all family members make it a point to rush to a common reunion joint, mostly their parental homes. No matter where they are across the globe they engineer their plans in such a way (months in advance) that on this day they get to greet each other.

To all those who couldn't find a reason to cherish today, "Go, find your happiness in the smallest pleasures of life. Just don't sulk or wander about with no purpose. Life is so full of surprises, and i am sure you can easily find at least few pleasant ones to bring a cheer to your sombre mood. If not anything else, read this post at least once again along with the never ending archives of the author on his blog but please...." and yes, make merry but do responsibly top it up by making it peacefully rocking!

we reached the mall I won’t say that I was disappointed but quite matter of
factly, I found all of its awe-inspiring adulation quite pretentious as back
home in Mumbai there are scores of malls which may not have as much of carpet area
to boast about as this world famous landmark proudly possesses but they won’t
show a pauper’s face while showcasing almost equally glamorous bells and
whistles! So beyond its strenuous distances (which quite astonishingly don’t
allow for any less fatigue by inadequate and dare I say misleading signage)
there was little to gung-ho about. Of course there were two majestic waterfalls
within the mall which more than made up for an otherwise ordinary outing. The
life-size busts of upside down hanging divers were a sight to behold. Just do

The indoor Dubai Aquarium was just about alright and it may
appear out of this world to only those who haven’t been exposed to any decent
aquariums anywhere else around the globe. Unless you are hell bent on ticking
all the boxes in your bucket list (prepared on guidance from some popular
websites / reference travel magazines) I won’t recommend your hard earned money
on this grossly overrated experience. You may as well have a look at this
transparent (of course it has to be as such) aquarium from outside its
perimeter which is very much visible from inside the mall!
The real action lied towards the exit leading to the Burj Lake which
houses the famous “Dubai Fountains” starting its fascinating 5-7 minutes long
show every evening at 6:00 PM and continues it until late in the evening until
11 PM at an interval of half an hour. The Dubai Fountain is the world's largest
choreographed fountain system featuring water that jets as high as 500 ft (152
metres), which is equivalent to a 50-storey building. My four year old had a
charm spell cast upon her as she merrily watched the water “snakes” swirling
around to the tunes of enchanting classical, Arabic and world music. They say
that the beam of light shining upward from the fountain can be seen from over
20 miles away, and is visible from space, making it the brightest spot in the
Middle East, and quite possibly in the entire world. It indeed was the high
point of our visit to the Dubai Mall.

to top it up are the relishing delicacies in the most amazing cutlery! It
probably was the most premium breakfast we have ever been to (and it beats all

spread). The varieties served in the buffet was so enormous that out of curiosity I thought
to check n decide my vegetarian menu before picking up the plate and you won’t
believe it took me one hour to just decide what I will finally put in my
platter! From the fruits, smoothies, cakes, muffins, cheese, mousse, cookies,
breads, salads, dressings, juices, dry fruits, sandwiches, mini burgers, pizzas,
waffles, crepes, spring rolls it was just like an ocean of food! I mean this is
called love for detailing as we got treated to countless surprises &
yummylicious delights, fresh from their bakery. My favourite was kiwi n green
apple tarts and for our own apple pie she couldn’t have enough of sugar coated

The
‘Two’ Fireworks in Dubai

All the hotel guests had been strongly advised by the
management several times to get back to their hotel premises by no later than 5
PM on the new year eve lest it turn into a logistically challenging and
financially burdensome endeavour for them as the sea of humanity (estimated to
reach a mammoth 2 to 3 Million) would flock around the area to get a glimpse of
the fireworks at the midnight. We did duly pay heed to this advisory and got
back in time and started anticipating the event of our lives unfolding right up
there. It was around 9:30 PM and I was sitting in our suite while overlooking
Burj Khalifa & the Burj Lake through its window. The late evening show of
the Dubai Fountain was just about to begin when I saw some sparks billowing out
of a tall sky scrapper. We all were just going through the motions to wait for
the midnight 'artificial' fireworks. Already having downed two beers I could
only think it was some sort of a weird (as it obviously didn't look like one)
kind of rehearsal (or may be a teaser) just couple of hours ahead of the real
'fun'!! But my initial reaction dramatically changed as within just 2 minutes
the ‘fire’ appeared to have embraced the entire building! It was the same place
where we went for our lunch just few hours ago, one of the glistening city’s
most prominent luxury hotels, The Address! It goes without saying that all that
excitement and anticipation for the clock to strike 12 went in a flash as
everybody was just so concerned for countless of those who could have possibly got trapped inside a gargantuan structure of 63 floor having 625 rooms &
apartments. The number of people finding themselves in such a horrific
situation could only be imagined to have swollen beyond its capacity as tonight
was the night when this property would have also welcomed scores of
non-resident guests already who would have paid a bomb to have an unobtrusive
view of Burj Khalifa! No such mishap could ever deemed to strike at a worse time (my sincere apologies if that sounded outright insensitive) but in the circumstances it was just the last thing anybody
could have imagined in their most bewildering of thoughts. Amidst all of the
commotion and a valley of emotions almost an hour later somebody broke the news
that there wasn’t any casualty and all of the hotel patrons got evacuated in
time! That was a relief which everybody was praying for and all thanked their
own Gods for blessing a sea of humanity from a very likely collateral damage.

With the settled sentiments (but amidst loads of
uncertainty over the prevailing scenario) everybody once again (tentatively)
started anticipating “The Event” to unfold right at midnight! The moment did
come and for the next 8-10 minutes what we saw was an out of body, out of mind
extravaganza. Every single millimeter of the whole of 829.8 metres of Burj
Khalifa seemed to be lit up on its own while vying for attention of every
single awe-struck eye around (there were at least a couple of millions of
them). It won’t be an overstatement to say that most of us had to fight with
nature to keep them blinking for the entire show’s duration lest they miss the
‘unknown’, jaw-dropping fireworks ever being staged on earth! According to the
organizers the Burj Khalifa was fitted with 400,000 LED lights and 1.6 tons of
fireworks were used in the display. For those who still haven’t watched this spectacle
online here is the link that captures the full show.

As you are geared up in the thick suits made of special fabric to provide you insulation against the freezing cold weather inside you just can't help taking your gloves off the hands to capture those magnificent frames every single minute! That puts your body under double whammy and eventually you are forced to come out of the chilly terrains to get your body back to its normal self. If that aspect be taken care of you sure have a gala time at Ski Dubai. For all that it has to offer, I found the entry ticket price of AED 325 per person way too steep as there is no guarantee that one would be able to spend quality time inside owing to the challenging requirements from one's body. I would recommend this thrill ride to only those high on self confidence and will power.

Ski Dubai

After having spent the last two nights of 2015 we ushered 2016 in the comparatively (and obviously) less pretentious property of Accor viz. Mercure Gold Hotel on the Al Mina Road in Bur Dubai. For all its warm hospitality and ease of access to different parts of the town while not puncturing a hole in your pocket I very strongly recommend this property to the tourists of all types, whether in friends group or family.

Accor Le Club

In my earlier posts I have strongly recommended about this annual membership offered by Accor group of hotels and I once again quite convincingly reiterate on the same. I have been using this membership for the last three years and trust me the kind of value proposition it brings along it's a no brainer to go for this. One could get the entire membership fee reimbursed in the form of a free night which could be availed in any of the Accor properties (and there are hundreds of them) spread over the Asia Pacific region including Australia and New Zealand. For example I have booked myself in Sofitel Melbourne on Collins (which would have cost me 18,000 bucks or around 1.5 times the membership fee) & unlike such other membership proposition from other hotel chains this one is absolutely less fussy. If you have planned your holidays well in advance you could be almost sure of getting your free night in your chosen property.

Also, add to your complimentary night the other privileges which come as part of the membership it's a real steal. I won't take too much of space here in listing them but just the thought of going for a lip smacking dinner with your family in the best Accor restaurant of the town while getting a birthday cake served on the table along with two signature cocktails (yes, all as part of the membership) should be good enough to fall for this patronage.

This membership also gives one access to the global sales from Accor (and they do so every quarter) ahead of the general public apart from giving an additional 10℅ discount all round the year.

As such this recommendation to Accor Le Club membership comes with a money back guarantee of yours truly.

Last but not the least - Have you still not heard of The Entertainer?

Some of the finer things in life come when you are least expecting them. During my basic checks while planning our Dubai sojourn I accidentally stumbled upon something called as 'The Entertainer' and thankfully didn't pass it on as just another website. There was something in it that kept motivated and glued to it to know more about its concept and value proposition for its customers. After getting convinced with it in its first impressions I just bought it for AED 445 and what it returned to me was simply incredible to say the least.

I got one night's stay free in Abu Dhabi during our 2 days stay there and saved around AED 600. At Ferrari World I could get an express pass valued at AED 500 free (I could have got another free if we were in a bigger group). At Ski Dubai I availed another free offer worth AED 325. Add to it virtually all the eateries in Dubai and five star restaurants that give you one free with other (BOGO) as you flash your Entertainer app and you have made a killing when it comes to saving your money on vacation. Alas, I didn't know about The Entertainer before booking my stay in Dubai or I could have tried availing the "one night free with one" offer at the same properties we eventually stayed.

The Entertainer is spreading its wings in all the geographies in a phased manner and that is only very exciting for people like me. It provides it's users with the BOGO offers in some of the best hotels, restaurants, spas, amusement parks and recreation centers for the city you have purchased the App for (yes, The Entertainer has localized products for some of the major tourist destinations across the globe). What more would you ask when you get to know that when it comes to hotel bookings you could actually avail the BOGO offers anywhere in the world (of course, The Entertainer has to be having a presence there) regardless of which local Entertainer app you have purchased! Essentially, I can book a complimentary room night in Grand Hyatt Goa using my Dubai Entertainer app. How cool is that!!

If only The Entertainer was already present in Australia I would have been far more happier with my family's upcoming vacation starting in next couple of days.

Our houseboat's otherwise affable caretaker gets off the hook if you ask him to give you an early morning tea. So when i sensitized him last night that we would check-out at 5 he threw his usual tantrums but we didn't really have a choice & i could finally motivate him.

Barely half an hour into our 216 km long journey (which took us 8 hours to complete) the great nature started unfolding layers of its magnifisence. It was truly a treat to watch gentle yet pure greeny white water streams giving us their healing company for most part of our trip. The hills along the tricky road would challenge you for any colour blindness as you end up testing your cognitive skills to identify how many colours in different shades of Revlon are actually there on a single piece of rock!! You bow your head in respect when you see what precise chisel work is on display in the nature's workshop. I could hardly decide what to capture & what to leave! Such was my helplessnes in my effort to do justice to the sheer regality & elegance of this road (which at times i thought was teasing me) that my Pa had to gently remind me that we had some unfinished business.

Sonamarg disappointed as there was absolutely nothing to write home anything about it but we got the icing on our cake when we halted at the Drass Memorial. I went 13 years back in time when giving our final year engineering exam we got to know about the challenge our enemy had posed for us by intruding these vary heights which are so strategically located. Blood would run then when we would hear about the ongoing developments on war thru media. I once again had goose bumps as memories of the war & the war heroes who fought so valiantly in enormously challenging circomstances to save our Mother Nation's pride & honour. Meeting some of the soldiers was indeed a surreal experience.

There was nothing to do in Kargil & after landing at 1:30 pm we kept ourselves confined to the hotel room for the rest of the day.
For whatever impression i had about it i never expected it to offer something of its own beyond the shikaras n houseboats. Also, some how the image i was shown by different channels didn't put for a very exciting showing by this pristine town. For instance the revered Hazratbal mosque might find its mention in just one of the dozens of popular travelogues / websites! I personally liked the place very much. Of course, it may not be as overwhelming as Khwaza Moiuddin Chisti's in Ajmer Sharif but it has a presence & religious significance of its own. Don't forget to spend 30 minutes in the serene, quaint, Dal facing lawns of the mosque. I bet my money that you will forget all your miseries & would want to take more than a power nap here.

Which city comes to your mind when you recall "Mughal Garden"? I am sure some would try to instinctively say, "Delhi". I don't fault them for Sri Nagar hasn't let the world properly know it has not just one but actually three such jewels!! Here also, your tour operator might (unknowingly / unintentionally) want to guide you that "Chashma Shahi" is also called THE Mughal Garden. He is right!! Just one third of it if doesn't tell you that "Shalimar Garden" & "Nishaat Garden" complete the mindblowingly awesome trimverate of what was intended to be known as Kashmir's Mughal Gardens. Our cab driver revealed this & i got my money's worth there itself.

Shalimar is an imposing structure which makes you fall in love with it the moment you enter its modest entrance which grossly belies on what it is protecting! Its lush red n green facia reminds of all those Hindi movie songs which have made certain Chopras n Johars what they are today. I, the solo flying bird, for once regretted having missed the ethereal feeling of being in love with the concept of love. Excuse my gibberish treatment, i am getting overwhelmed by the great artistry. It being a Sunday, the place is thronged by the locals who have come in droves. Did i actually see a bunch of 30 odd free spirits sipping a cuppa tea, served pipping hot from a large vessle, with biscuits??!! My-o-my!! I felt like shamelessly asking a cup for my thirsty soul but my forcibly imbibed civic sense didn't allow me this privilege :(
There i passed by this careless Indo-firang couple engrossed in their own world of literary debate (i just overheard "Othello" by the graceful lady). There were mom's who came with their nursery going kids while their husbands would be deliberating about Dhoni's jibe on Tendulkar.
I realized that i had to keep an evening excusive for this beauteous creation of man. Alas, i had to move to the next one. For all my stay i had this strange feeling that something was amiss. I could sense that even as this Master could give any Mahi a run for his money on any given day perhaps it was not at its charming best! Could it be put on to the weather which possibly was not the best now? But who is complaining?? I actually am motivated to make sure that the Champ returns to its full glory when i seek my next appointment with the royalty.

Next on menu was Nishaat garden. Like Shalimar it is also crafted under the foot hills of a gigantic hill. Its tall boundry walls conceal what's gonna be revealed. On entry my immediate reaction was, "Thank my good heavens, it's not going to sap me of all my pluck". Trust me you guys truth couldn't be any closer to my poor imagination. Barely did i end up relishing the breathtaking beauty of the mazzanine floor i realized there were some stairs meant to take me to the next level. To cut the story short, it was a multi story beauty with each level (there were at least seven i vouch) trying to attract the penthouse premium from the other! Yes, each level had its own infiniti pool & a centrally liberating waterfall!! The size of all of them was at least that of Wembley and some of them could indeed aspire to beat the biggest olympics stadium hollow! I particulary got impressed with the way children & elders had UNRESTRICTED access to the pools. Every body just seemed to have forgotten that they were in a public place as they enjoyed with gay abandon. Kudos to J&K tourism for being so open & considerate on this largesse to its patrons. What a master stroke!! Even as by now i was literally dragging every single bone of me to the next higher level i finally gave up on the second last (and for which i won't forgive myself). What a visual treat it had been! I cursed myself for not researching well before coming here or i could have managed my stay more judiciously.

The last one was Chashme Shaahi & i got relieved when i realized that it was a poor second cousin to its more decorated siblings, both in sheer size & maintenance. I quickly winded up in just over five minutes & came down with (medically) heavy head wanting to hit the sack immediately. Then came the shocker! "Haven't you brought the water with you?" On my dead zombie like reaction the shopkeeper giving company to my Pa all this while educated me that there is a continuous stream of water coming out of a fish eye opening and that it had some medicinal properties to keep your digestion in order. So much so that the legend has it that Nehru Ji would get his daily dose shipped to him DAILY. I couldn't say no to the silent curiosity my Pa had & went up again first to drink myself besides filling in a bottle. As they say, "Every Chashma has its Shahi day".

Tip:
1. To be able to do justice to the royal gardens don't pack them back to back on the same day. Trust me you'll end up missing all the fun & your limbs also won't shower praise upon you.

Wow! Had quite an engaging day unlike y'day. Enjoyed a lovely morning weather on way to Gulmarg with cool, pleasant breeze gently massaging every single pore of my body n soul. Ah, sitting beside a driver was never so carefree n relaxing!! Gulmarg treated us with downpour while on way to the Gondola from taxi stand. This is something deliberately done to favour the pony-wallahs as the long 1.5-2.0 km stretch can actually be demotivating for someone not used to casual, brisk walking even as motorable roads are available!! Then i had to negotiate my way thru the unrelenting touts who make it a point to prove that for riding "Pushpak Vimaan" all such efforts n pain are worth. Gondola itself was truly awesome as it takes u to an elevation of 3,950 mtrs. Getting out of our Gondola itself was an enthralling experience. In the company of some state sponsored VIP's you also feel privileged. I made up for the missing 50 mtrs (from the psychologically ego boosting 4k mark) by climbing to the snow point which shouldn't be anything less than 250 mtrs above from where Gondola leaves us. It was a surreal experience to feel the real "snow" in hands & get myself clicked in 4 different poses on a ski at a measly 50 bucks. Coffee n maggi at that remote place were always meant to be worth every cent spent. It's a real pity i couldn't climb up to the ULTIMATE heights as we had to go down within 3 hrs!! On our way back to the taxi stand we hired ponnies & saw the lush 21 holes Gulmarg golf course, probably the most decorated one in the country.

Tips:
1. Always carry one umbrella each for all the group members.
2. Don't get frustrated with the forgettable Gondola booking experience. The management is hands-in-glove with the unscruplous touts but keep your spirits high for what's in store ahead.
3. On reaching stage 1, don't just stop there. It would be a good idea to immediately proceed to the stage 2 which is worth all the time u can spend (or are allowed to spend).

Oh boy! Time surely flies and how. Today my younger baby (the first one is the only biological yet) grows four years old. Guess in its four years of existence it has done reasonably well to bring smile on at least few faces even as of late I haven't been able to do justice to it in giving my quality time for its continued evolution. If you guys didn't get an opportunity (or motivation) to follow its immediate post-birth days that time and you have a fascination for the captivating Kashmir n Ladakh region I promise to get all of their charm playing live on your hand held devices as in the course of next couple of weeks I shall be republishing those absolutely out of this world memories again on my blog, day by day as it happened then. Keep hitting https://scorpiofury.blogspot.com until 15th September. I do hope it won't let you down in devoting your precious little time. Cheers.

From being just another face in the crowd to carrying the biggest names in the industry on her tiny shoulders. All of that in a flash (just over 100 days to be precise since she first hit the screens on 7th May only)! And the best part is that she seems to have found her karmic vanity (oh yes, she just loves the vanity vans whenever she gets her stage to show all her wares) in doing whatever she chooses to do while enchanting all the industry veterans and curious onlookers. Am I a proud father? I would sound very selfish in saying so. I am just so very thankful to the great Almighty God for blessing me with this Angel who has changed the very meaning of life. I am also very grateful to all of my well-wishers for pouring their warmth on me and her without which I wouldn't have got so many moments to cherish. Last but not the least it's the mom of the Princess who should be held in the highest esteem for all her bravado and hard work in polishing her ward.

The story is far from being over as many more such chapters of absolute delight are to be unfolded for everyone to be charmed with a zeal for life and positive attitude to reckon with. Amen!

Moral of the story (if at all I am qualified to add that): All the kids are born with a unique talent and vista. If only we could allow them to explore their true potential it would make for such blissful and cherishable moments forever. Let the small, beautiful flowers bloom to their fullest. Amen!

Ever since she came in our lives a little over five years ago Shriya has been mesmerizing us with her infectious charm and zeal for life. Even as her age defying sense of compassion amuses one and all her earnestness to do well in all walks of life with a surgeon's precision and a hermit's self assured focus has brought her lot of academic and extracurricular laurels already at such a tender age.

Only recently she won lot of hearts by her performance in the Mother's Day tribute by Pepsodent https://youtu.be/sxrwf-h_yKE and the new age Father's Day celebration by LG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn-F-Jwe2Xs

Just a couple of weeks ago she became the cynosure of all eyes as she walked the ramp @ The India Kids Fashion Week with a confident gait associated with the top industry veterans.

Now, Shriya so humbly aspires to walk the ramp @ The Lakme Fashion Week which to say only the crème de la crème get to do would be an understatement. And it sure is a tough task ahead to clear the hurdles along the way. In her endeavour she would need the vociferous support of all who love her.

If you want the adorable Shriya to walk the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week, vote for her by liking her picture on the link below as only the top 10 girls & top 10 boys with maximum likes will qualify for the Hamleys Ramp Camp Audition in Mumbai. If you wish her to do really well in this test you may also want to share this post on your own FB wall so that your friends could also get to vote for Shriya.

The voting closes on Friday, 24.06.2016 at 11 AM.

any Mumbaikar's mind and tongue while planning a short break away destination
is Lonavala. Isn't it? Whether it's with someone's childhood buddies,
colleagues at work place or with family friends there doesn't appear to be too many
worthy contenders to take away the numero uno's crown from this sleepy yet
lively town which doesn't require too much of an advance planning or research.<span style="font-family: "Palatino Linotype","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">

ideally want to not think too much in booking either a bungalow or a hotel /
resort from the plenty of options available depending upon various factors like
your group size, tastes of most of them, budget, etc. But eventually the only
thing that could pose a challenge in 'fixing' the 'hotspot' is to choose from
across the multitude of bungalows each vying for the prospective patrons'
attention and the so called resorts each beaming in your face through the
length of Mumbai Pune Expressway vide jumbo billboards. As such quite
invariably the time spent in merely pinning down on a name could turn out to be

try to have a gala time while having our food and drinks together. Kids mingle

are always on the lookout for kid friendly places. We had earlier tasted the
idea of ten families going together on a farm house at around 3 hour drive from
Mumbai and we once again started mulling over the idea of repeating the fun.
Quite a many locations were researched around Mumbai and honestly none of them
could give an “in-principle” assurance of it not turning out to be a damp
squib. This time we were eight families along with ten kids between 2 months
and 11 years of age. Quite providentially I chanced upon Picaddle and
instinctively loved the place from how it appeared online. I could sense that
it was a decent 3 star property having a good number of rooms available at an
almost median price you would get while budgeting for Lonavala. Not so
surprisingly I found that among all of my colleagues and friends no one had
heard about this place which I later realized could be because of the
management not coming from the “carpet bombing” school of thought while marketing
their property. They would rather let the word of mouth create awareness about
them being a worthy host of choice.

<span style="color: #383838; font-family: "Palatino Linotype","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">

<span style="color: #383838; font-family: "Palatino Linotype","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">This time I am not going to get into the details of how our experience was as I simply don't have to! well dressed helping our entire jing - jang in smooth check in. To our delight
the rooms were not only good in size but also had amazing balconies with
sitting arrangement. The décor and upkeep of the room n bathroom was must say
very impressive. There were different wings in the hotel North, South, East and
West each having their own bunch of luxuries. Excited to play in water, kids
changed into costumes and were ready to splash. The glass lift, the
Jacuzzi, the kids pool, two pools with separate sitting area where many groups
can have good times together were amazing. We went to the biggest pool of the
hotel and that was the Pirates Pool having a crazy Shark House. The sun was up

this time with seven more couples and their kids. The trip started off on a
very smooth note. The hotel was easy to find as it is very conveniently
located, bang on the main road in the heart of Lonavala. I was happy to find
ample parking space in the resort despite being at such a prime location.
Check-in was super smooth. Room size and luxury exceeded our expectations given
the price point. Restaurants staff was efficient and food was excellent with a
nice buffet spread. I particularly enjoyed the desserts and felt a bit fatter
post check out :-) The pool was essentially a mini water park with slides and
many fun things to do. Both adults and kids enjoyed the pool activities to the
core. The pool was indeed the highlight of the hotel. We got a banquet for our
dinner at the same floor as our rooms, that too along with music which was
awesome. Our daughter fell sick and did vomit on bed midnight, but
housekeeping staff was quick in attending us and cleaning up the room at such
an odd time. We were traveling with an infant and to our bad luck just after
check out our baby demanded feed. But the hotel staff was very kind to provide
a room to us for 30 mins even after check out/payment which flattered us.
Overall I will say it was an excellent experience. Picaddle was really value

Yay!!! That's the initial reaction many a world weary
Mumbaikar has whenever a trip to the picturesque town of Lonavala is
mooted. This time however, there was a significant difference due to the
meticulous planning of our erudite friend Ritesh and the ever accommodating
staff at the Piccdale hotel/ resort/ water park/ friends place/ home away from
home. The hotel is ideally situated on the main road surrounded by serene views
of the hills around with staff that was attuned to the needs of 16 raucous
adults who've had more than a few gulpfuls of the sweet blessed nectar and 10
precocious children from a 2 month old to an 8 year old who after having spent
an amazingly fun afternoon at the water park were still full of zest and energy
to enjoy at the banquet venue provided specially to us by the hotel just to
accommodate the large numbers. The trip indeed was a memorable one where
the sweet taste of friendship and camaraderie was garnished by the wonderful
time our children had. We owe all this to our effervescent Ritesh and the
affable staff at THE HOLIDAY SPOT known as Picaddle. So 3 cheers and deserved
kudos to both and here's to hoping for many more 'Cheers' to come.....

Barely few minutes into sitting there we started getting a sense that it was a seriously bad decision. We were served with a drink that had an insect equally thirsty for a sip or two. On pointing it the staff nonchalantly 'changed' the drink but didn't find it courteous enough to say a simple 'sorry'! Then we got 'accidentally' served a non veg pasta when we had ordered a veg! Again, the staff had nothing more than a cherubic smile! The fact that the staff couldn't serve us drinking water even after several reminders was indeed the most 'palatable' of the experience!

After all of this we didn't have any stomach for ordering the main course and when we spoke to the manager about it he offered an apology with a dessert. It indeed was a humble gesture as in our group of 10 adults n 6 kids we got served with a blueberry cheesecake slice cut in five 'portion'! It goes without saying that nobody touched it.

Our cheque didn't come for over 15 minutes and even after couple of requests. When it did we had the shock of our lives to find that there were 'overcharged' items we didn't order. We paid the bill and requested the manager to review the complete CCTV recording to find as to whose claims were good. He assured that by tomorrow we would be approached by the management but even as I am writing this there hasn't been any attempts from them. Open and shut case!

7:41 ki Badlapur local....

I know this would infuriate many for its cliche / banal sound effect and for it (self admittedly) being a pirated cheap copy of "Ek Chaalis ki Last Local". But how can I not start my memoir with its mention for this 12 coach shuttle has been saving the day almost daily for the last few months and yesterday I so very badly regretted to have missed it by a whisker, quite literally! I was just plain scared to even think about what's in store should I now hit the road instead. Countless occasions of sulky drives back home in the race of porcupines made my heart sink and I could truly relate to a death convict's state of mind just moments before s/he is taken to the gallows.

Ah! Y’day was a lot different. Within 10 minutes my cab had hit the Western Express Highway which otherwise would have taken at least half an hour (that when the day was not too bad). As an afterthought I actually thanked HIM/HER for relieving me the pain of being exposed to a battery of armpit perfume testers in the more humble (but infinitely more reliable) Mumbai local.

“The cab was possibly cruising at over 80 Kmph when I realised (just minutes ago, today!) that all my mental & physical faculties got fatally violated by a crushing truck. Mine and the cab driver's identities could be ascertained only with the help of our Aadhaar Cards and our clothes surprisingly corroborated what UIDAI had on its central servers!” That was the crux of the public advisory issued by one of my great family members (extended one, mind it) at his vitriolic and cynical best, barely twelve hours after the very same Ritesh who he adored like his very own son (for his academic achievements) met with an untimely end. All this while he was restlessly doing a moon walk in the narrow passage between the elevators of our building and our modest 2 BHK rented flat, perhaps waiting for the last rites to get to a start soon and finish that much sooner.

I wryly smiled and walked ahead only to notice this Bhabhi (sister-in-law) I used to respect so very much wearing dark shades (at 10’O clock in the morning, inside my cosy house!) and already donning a designer saree though in an ostensibly mourning shade of white! I got bemused as to why she would be making a fool of herself in this audience by putting a black aviator on her nose pads. I observe that she is actually trying to conceal her giggle underneath that pair. Lo and behold! I find her secret as she is having a hearty laugh (inside her lungs, obviously) on finally being able to comprehend a Santa & Banta joke sent to her by her kitty party gang on WhatsApp! Her tranquillity got distressed with a sombre call (from my distant buaji I guess), “Arre Neelakshi beta, jara doodh dekh lena jara”.

There in that desolate corner is sitting my adorable darling, my angel daughter. For her evolved IQ (supplemented with a superior EQ) she is tentatively acting to be oblivious to what the ongoing commotion was while playing on her Lego blocks. Innocently & excitedly, she chirps (like the way she always does when in the evening I reach home and before I fully open the door she unmistakably identifies me from behind it), “Papa aa gaye”! But how did she do it today?! I didn’t have any key to put to a shut door which would have her ears sensitized. What did she hear?! Do I need any reasons to stay camouflaged any more with a halo around me? I would be the cruelest person ever born to deprive her of my touch any beyond. I just lift her in my arms and almost involuntarily she plants her trade mark kisses on both of my cheeks and tops it up with one on my fore head. What bliss!

p.s.: It would be only appropriate for me to share few of the most profound (and flattering too) ghost tributes I have received in the last 24 hours since I made my plan to pen this piece public. Thanks to these so very noble souls for their generosity which I humbly believe I don't deserve by miles. Love you loads guys.

It's been 4 years since then but even today scar of 'that' event get very much itchy! If you haven't found any of my earlier write ups worthy of your precious time I most humbly insist you give your inhibitions a let go for the next few minutes and patiently read the following text I had published exactly four years ago on this day. Goodness gracious me, mostly I get awed by Facebook's suggestions on reminding me to share past, fond memories for the day but this one came as a real jolt! I am sure you won't curse yourself for your painstaking effort. Just for you alone, do read on.

…You better be watchful and think TWICE before rolling down your car windows if someone provokes you while furiously humming “Why this Kolaveri Di?” It may not come remotely close to soothingly rhyme like it does to your ears from your earphone (if being aired by an FM broadcaster) but try to observe (instantaneously, without losing your senses) intentions (generally covert) of the person(s) you suspect it to be coming from.

I had to experience one of the not so pleasant evenings yesterday while driving back home from my work place. I anyway hate driving, more so when I am alone to crib about my helplessness in negotiating with the nightmarish traffic snarls (which incidentally are omnipresent in Mumbai). Yesterday when after keeping it in a hiatus for a week I took my car out spiritedly (to keep its oil burning) I didn’t have any inkling that I would be left to regret my FORCED enthusiasm by the time the day nears its end!

During the PEAK evening hour I approached a now NOTORIOUSLY INFAMOUS junction right before the Hub Mall in Goregaon (E) and I was forced to take a pause for around 10 minutes at a narrowed corner which is an offshoot of the ongoing construction. Even as I was waiting to get some movement ahead of me I heard a loud thud somewhere on my car’s body. Anxiously, I started looking around and found a 20 something fellow trying to peep from outside the front left window posing as if I had caused him some harm. Out of sheer concern I rolled down the window when he screamed at me for having stomped his feet! I got startled as to how could a car which is in its inertia for at least 5 minutes could do something as crazy as this unless of course the poor chap himself had run him over the car. At the same moment another gentleman appears on my driver side window and showers me with some expletives. Annoyingly, I was trying to both defend (for no fault of mine) and offend when suddenly the second guy asks me to leave the spot. It was yet another shocker for my already compromised senses but I just shrugged my head on the bizarre turn of events and tried to focus on the steering again (with the perpetual hope of getting the opportunity to change the gear from neutral to first).

After almost 2 minutes of the above drama, I observe an auto-driver (standing on my left) smiling at me and casually pointing that those guys have run away after lifting my handset which was kept at the fellow passenger's seat! I couldn’t fathom this shock as I had my hands-free still attached to both my ears (only that the other end was unplugged long back). Such was the smart and well rehearsed sequence of events that I could immediately recall “Cautious Optimism” phrase so freely used by the market analysts on business channels. Of course, there was no caution in my case (and I am sure for others also there couldn’t be plenty of it if in similar circumstances they get staged).

Moral of the story, come hell or high water, never roll down your car’s windows without first checking all your belongings and more importantly, ensuring you are that EXTRA alert to deal with the unforeseen (or unheard of).

All said and done, at the end of day one can’t undo what’s already destined so no purpose does it serve contemplating on “If only…”. Even as I could register a formal FIR with the police station (which incidentally is right across the street where yesterday’s drama unfolded) and I have shared the IMEI no. of my beloved cell (they don’t call it “Cell” for no good reasons) I do not now have a realistic hope of retrieving my drool-worthy 50 days old Samsung Galaxy Note. I wish we could get back to those days when cells were just a commodity than anything else, least an object of desire we sometimes fall in love with. There has to be a life beyond…..

this city's enormity overpowers all your senses. As a matter of fact even
before entering the municipal limits all the entry points slowly but surely
start building up the anticipation of what's gonna strike you when you are in
this modern era's man made wonder. I entered through the land route as our
family vacation's first point of entry into UAE was Abu Dhabi couple of days
ago. During the entire hour and a half long journey we witnessed what a
determinate effort and power of willingness could do. Amidst a full blown desert
man created humongous infrastructure that could give any of the resource rich
'developed' nations a serious run for their money. A six to eight lane (either
sides of the traffic), bump free, spotless, super express highway which
officially allows one to drive @ 120 KMPH gets the distance of around 150 KMs

touching elders' feet on meeting them this structure also makes you take a bow
with great respect (and much disbelief), from a distance of at least 15 KMs!!
As it nears and you get to see it in its full glory rest everything takes a

vacation in Dubai the very first objective I had in my mind was to book myself
for the new year's eve in a hotel that could offer me a vantage point access to
see all that world famous fireworks without giving me any stress. I had heard
the stories of how the entire city's roads get completely blocked as the swarm
of humanity head towards just one stop i.e., Burj Khalifa. People from world
over come here just to see this once in a lifetime phenomenon and they book
their tables in even the tiniest of holes surrounding this engineering marvel.
I was looking for an unmatched access and my search stopped the moment I
discovered Sofitel Dubai Downtown! Being a true blue loyalist of the Sofitel
brand for years it was like a blessing in disguise. My detailed study of this
property kept on reinforcing my belief that this indeed is what someone should
be looking forward to without thinking too much. My being an Accor's Le Club
member came handy as I got a very good rate when I was booking all of my stays
couple of months in advance. It goes without saying that never before did I
find myself so very fascinated with a commoditized product like a hotel! And
with bated breath, like a child I have been waiting to come here for the past
10 weeks.<span style="color: #666666; font-family: "Palatino Linotype","serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">

landed at Sofitel Dubai Downtown and from the word go it's been a truly
exhilarating experience, food for the thirsty soul to sum it up. It's a perfect
place befitting one's stay for such a grand setting and I would be surprised if
there would be too many competitors around who could blend a deadly concoction
of unmatched hospitality, attention grabbing luxury & opulence along with
offering such a bird's eye view of Burj Khalifa! The entire staff sets a
benchmark in absolutely top of the drawer service delivery and from the bell
boys to right until the top management everybody seems to be perpetually
running for achieving some coveted World's Best Service Delivery Person award!
Everything that manages to catch your attention is just so perfectly planned
and laid in its place that its almost impossible to find faults even if one
considers him(her)self to be the most discerning of them all. Our allotted room
was gorgeously well appointed and as expected it offers the world's best view
of Burj Khalifa, the Grand Stand seat equivalent for Formula One aficionados.
The Club Millisime access (given to guests booked in Suites) was just the
perfect icing on the cake.<span style="color: #666666; font-family: "Palatino Linotype","serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">
